Current Volunteer Opportunities
Library volunteers play an important role helping the library meet its mission of connecting people with information. We recognize that your time is valuable, and will do our best to identify activities that fit your interests in order to make your volunteering experience rewarding. We accept adult volunteers, and teens ages 16 and up with parental permission.

Service on the Library Board of Trustees
“Government is a trust, and the officers of government are trustees; and both the trust and trustees are created for the benefit of the people.” — Henry Clay, 1829
The library board is entrusted by the community with the responsibility for ensuring that the library provides the best service possible in the present, and is able to continue to do so in the future. Together, its members set library policy, monitor the library’s budget and overall effectiveness, and participate in planning and advocacy activities for sustainable development. More information about the roles and responsibilities of library trustees is available from the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives, or by contacting Director Mark Adler at (859) 987-4419, x 103.
Vacancies on the Paris-Bourbon County Library’s Board of Trustees typically occur with the expiration of a current member’s term. Such vacancies are generally announced on our website, in the Library, in the local newspaper, and using various social media sites. The Library Board is currently accepting applications for a position that will begin July 1, 2025. Applications are due Monday, February 10 at 5:30 pm. All interested parties are asked to attend an informational session on Thursday, January 23 at 6:00pm. Please contact Library Director Mark Adler to make arrangements for attendance (madler@bourbonlibrary.org, 859-987-4419 x103). More information can be found here; you can download an application here.
