Teen Advisory Board
The Teen Advisory Board is a teen leadership council committed to providing positive programs and experiences for our teen community at the library. We serve our library through volunteer work, ongoing community projects, and the development of teen-led programs like our miniature comic-con, Chibi-Con!
Make your voice heard in biweekly meetings, during which you can advise library staff on teen-related policies and upcoming teen events. The TAB is a great way to help make a difference in your community. To join the Teen Advisory Board, please contact Teen Librarian Beth Dunston by email or at (859) 987-4419 x111.
Teen Advisory Board Projects & Events
The PBCL Teen Advisory Board has several ongoing projects. If you would like to help, contact Beth to join!
- Chibi-Con: The library hosts an annual miniature comic-con in late May, sponsored by the Teen Advisory Board. Local and student artists are encouraged to participate and set up tables in the library, while attendees enjoy snacks, a gaming room, performances, and teen-led panels. Chibi-Con is planned, organized, and run with assistance from the TAB.
- Cap Collecting: With the help of our generous community, the Teen Advisory Board successfully collected enough plastic bottle caps to create a recycled plastic bench for outside the library. We still need help sorting, cleaning, and checking the caps – we need teens to do this! Find out how you can help at our biweekly TAB meetings.
- Wallis Home Children’s Garden: The TAB is assisting the State Garden Club at the Wallis Home downtown with weeding and maintaining the ABC Children’s Garden. We are proud to assist our community and need YOUR help to keep this educational garden beautiful.
- Volunteer Opportunities: The library depends on our excellent teen volunteers for major events, including our annual Summer Reading Kickoff and the Paris Storytelling Festival. Interested in volunteering? Join the TAB and give us a call!
